2024 Arqana Deauville August Yearling Sale - 30 by Wootton Bassett

Last year’s Prix du Jockey (Gr.1) and Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe (Gr.1) hero ACE IMPACT and this year’s French Derby winner LOOK DE VEGA notably have one thing in common, they are both graduates of the August Yearling Sale, which is synonymous with excellence in the ring and on the racecourse.

With his first Australian bred 2YO's to race next season, Wootton Bassett has 30 entries for this sale.

To name just a few, UNQUESTIONABLE, FEED THE FLAME, ANCIENT WISDOM, SUNWAY, GOLD TRIP, BUCANERO FUERTE and FACTEUR CHEVAL have also upheld the impressive reputation of the sale with their race records, which has become an unmissable event for yearling buyers across the world.

This year, the sale will take place from August 16-18, around the prestigious racing weekend that will hold the Prix Morny and Prix Jean Romanet (Gr.1s). A total of 325 yearlings with exceptional conformation and pedigrees are catalogued in the following order:

 

Friday 16 August: 2pm – lots 1 to 145

Saturday 17 August: 5.30pm – lots 146 to 235

Sunday 18 August: 5.30pm – lots 236 to 325

 

Progeny by the leading sires Camelot (13), Dark Angel (3), Dubawi (5), Frankel (8), Justify (3), Kingman (4), Lope de Vega (6), Mehmas (11), New Bay (8), Night of Thunder (6), No Nay Never (10), Sea The Stars (8), Sea the Moon (7), Siyouni (22), Sioux Nation (2), Starspangledbanner (6), Too Darn Hot (6), Wootton Bassett (30), Blue Point (7) and Zarak (17) are catalogued, as well as lots from the first crops of Lope y Fernandez, Lucky Vega, Palace Pier, Space Blues, St Mark’s Basilica, Starman and Victor Ludorum.

Underlining the strength of the catalogue, 40% of the colts and fillies offered are out of black-type mares, with 20 lots out of, or siblings to Group 1 winners. A total of 220 yearlings are French breds or assimilated, which makes them eligible for Owners’ Premiums that are unique to France.
