Ridden by Hugh Bowman for John O’Shea, the 6yo son of Per Incanto (USA) did best in a driving finish to defeat Mazu (Maurice) by a short-neck with a further head back Masked Crusader (Toronado) in third with Kementari (Lonhro) in fourth.

With his third stakes success, Lost And Running advances his record to nine wins, two seconds, and a third from 19 starts with earnings of $2,981,100.

“It was a super win because Hugh had to get off the back of Overpass who took him nowhere,” O’Shea said

uo;So he had to make a really long run on him. But that is the way you want to ride a 6/4 chance, take all the luck out of it.

“He’s going to come on so much for that. He was probably on empty with 100m to go, but he got the job done. We can go to the big race in a couple of weeks with our tail in the air and hopefully get another win. He will come on for that. It is a great result for the stable, the owners, and everyone involved.”

Bred in New Zealand by bred by JML Bloodstock, Lost And Running was a $40,000 purchase for his trainer from the Blandford Lodge draft at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale.

His dam Dreamlife (Danroad) failed to flatter in three career starts. However, she is a sister to the Group III winner Kiss Me Ketut and a half-sister to Listed stakes-winners Fast Love (Fastnet Rock) and A Chance To Dream (Volksraad).

Ciaron Maher Bloodstock purchased a Yarraman Park consigned sister to Lost And Running for $340,000 at the Easter Yearling Sale.
